Selin Gençoğlu is a multidisciplinary artist and architect based in Istanbul, working primarily in painting and photography. Her practice is shaped by memory, presence and the unseen, and by what lingers beneath the surface of the self. Through masked figures, devil-like characters and ritual-like scenes, often set within intense red atmospheres, her work gives form to inner tensions and unspoken emotions, where innocence and darkness coexist.
Gençoğlu completed her undergraduate studies in architecture at the École Nationale Supérieure d'Architecture de Paris-Belleville, followed by a master's degree combining architecture and art, with a thesis in the fine arts. While her artistic practice remains her primary focus, she continues to work part-time as an architect, an experience that informs the spatial and narrative qualities of her work.

Humans enter the world as part of an infinite coil of connections. Their lives are shaped long before birth, by where they are within this coil. And humans take root in this world through the very place they are born, forming the very first sense of belonging to one’s origins.
