In memory of
June 5, 1941 - April 23, 2017
Mete Bora was a visionary businessman, philanthropist, and supporter of the arts. A graduate in Chemical Engineering, he founded pioneering companies like Ekono A.Ş. and Bora Ltd. In 1989, he established SUMMA Turizm Yatırımcılığı A.Ş., an international contracting and investment company that shaped infrastructure across Europe, Africa, and South America. His legacy includes landmark projects like Atakule in Ankara and numerous global developments.
Beyond business, Bora founded Summart to nurture Turkish talent in contemporary art. He also championed elderly rights, establishing Turkey’s first Elderly Platform and TURYAK Elderly Council Association.
Though he passed in 2017, Mete Bora's visionary work and dedication to construction, art, and social welfare continue to inspire, leaving a lasting legacy through the institutions he built.
Speaking the universal language of art, Summart was born as an initiative in 2004. For ten years, it hosted an artist residency program where talented artists from all over Turkey and the world came together, cultivating creative ideas. Through this program, artists from various cultures met through their works, drawing inspiration from one another and creating unique artistic experiences.
In 2014, our gallery opened as Summart Art Center, growing and evolving into a multidisciplinary art space. Supporting young artists, helping them find their voices, and securing their rightful place in the art world are among Summart’s core missions. As a non-profit organization, we believe in the power of art and aim to make it accessible to all.
Summart is not just a gallery; it is a bridge between art lovers and artists. We bring art into every aspect of life, showcasing a broad range of works, from painting and sculpture to photography and installation. With our exhibitions, workshops, and rich program of events, we promise every visitor an inspiring artistic journey. There is so much to discover in the magical world of art, and we are eager to explore it together.
