Dilşad Akçayöz’s practice is based on the idea that the body is not only a physical entity but also a space for identity, belonging, and transformation. Through a figurative approach, the artist explores the tension between the body's rigid and fluid states while questioning the individual's relationship with normative perceptions of perfection. Investigating how the pursuit of flawlessness is constructed through personal and societal impositions, Akçayöz primarily works with marble in his sculptural practice. The material’s rigid yet fragile nature embodies the concepts of transformation and vulnerability that are central to his work. Viewing sculpture as a meditative process, the artist, with his solo exhibition Flaw-less, opening on Tuesday, February 18 at Summart, invites the viewer to step away from the mechanization of perception and engage in a liberating dialogue about the nature of the body.
