Contemporary Istanbul, 2016 / “Recent Acquisitions I - Collectors’ Stories”

The Contemporary Istanbul art fair welcomed art lovers with a brand new exhibition curated by Hasan Bülent Kahraman. The exhibition "Recent Acquisitions I/Collectors' Stories" presented the latest artworks acquired by Turkey's most special collectors. The exhibition included the most recent acquisitions of art by Turkey's leading collectors and ran from September 20 to 23.

Consisting of nearly 60 contemporary works of art from 25 collections, the exhibition not only brought together "last purchases," but also brought gallery managers who visited Contemporary Istanbul and participated in the exhibition.

"Recent Acquisitions I" also showcased the trends and movements followed by collectors in Turkey.

The exhibition presented and documented the current contemporary art scene, provided a better understanding of the latest art purchase market in Turkey, and offered collectors the chance to present their aesthetic approaches. At the same time, the exhibition opened the epochal changes in the world of art collectors in Turkey to debate. Thus, for the first time in Turkey, the world of collectors was opened to the public.
